Opening of Recare's new showroom

Opening CeremonyRecare held its official opening of its new clinic/showroom and office in Long Hanborough, Oxfordshire with The Rt Hon David Cameron MP for Witney and Prime Minister on Friday 15th January 2016.

Richard Holland-Oakes, Managing Director of Recare and his team Tina Holland-Oakes, James Holland-Oakes, Andrew Oakes, Tom Jephcott and Kate Austin welcomed over 60 guests which included family, friends, clients, manufactures and supplies from within the mobility industry.

Richard opened the proceedings with a short talk about the companies development over the past 6½ years from a business started at the start of the recession on the family dining room table to today at our new 5000sq ft showrooms.

Richard then thanked the Recare team by name for their hard work and commitment, and then introduced Mr Cameron. Mr Cameron praised Recare’s achievements and commitment to the disabled and said what a wonderful opportunity it is for him to be able to officially open the new Recare showrooms.

Richard then showed Mr Cameron around the showrooms demonstrating some of the high end power chairs, manual wheelchairs and other equipment before a demonstration of the Re-Walk exoskeleton suit with Andre van Rüschen and the Re-Walk team.

Mr Cameron then spoke at length with quite a few manufactures and suppliers (Otto Bock, Sunrise Medical, Re-Walk, Rise & Recline, Invacare, Trekinetic, Handicare, Flexel and the Tetraplegic Charity Regain) as well as a handful of Recare clients who have been supplied equipment by Recare. On his way around the showrooms we discussed certain issues with regards to the NHS provision of products and how the private market links in to this.

After signing a book called Wounded “ Legacy of War” endorsed by Hans George Nader, owner of Otto Bock, about the war veterans and their disabilities Mr Cameron then went on to cut the ribbon for the official opening with the complete Recare team.

Regain Sports Award Luncheon

RegainRecare attended the Regain Sports Award Luncheon on Friday 25th September 2015.

Hosted by Lord Ivar Mountbatten, the Chairman of Regain. The Regain Sports Awards Luncheon celebrates the work of Regain and showcases the charity’s work in helping tetraplegics return to independence after a sporting accident.

This year our Lunch was held the fabulous Allianz Park, home of The Saracens Rugby Team.

Every year Regain takes great pride in presenting our annual Sports Awards trophies to individuals we believe deserve the recognition they merit. As a charity they are humbled by the support shown to Regain, year on year. However, they always like to ensure that a select few whose lives are forever changed by tetraplegia and the individuals who go out of their way to fundraise for Regain, achieve the ‘unachievable’ and give up so much time are recognised.

Boost for disabled access at Woodstock Town HallWoodstock town hall stairlift

AWARD-WINNING writer and comedian Ricky Gervais is usually known for his humour and often controversial jokes. But after a donation from the film company behind his movie Cemetery Junction,

Gervais may be remembered for a new stairlift. Woodstock Town Hall has had the £10,000 stairlift installed after Point Productions – the firm which filmed parts of the 2010 coming-of-age comedy in the Town Hall and the surrounding area – donated the cash.

The money went to the Woodstock 900 legacy fund, created to celebrate nine centuries since Henry 1 enclosed the royal park – which later became the town – with a stone wall.
